Our Vision

We should all have access to great schools for our kids, healthy homes for our whānau, fully staffed hospitals when we need care, a functioning transport system to get to where we need to go, clean drinking water and a flourishing natural environment. Taxes are our collective pool that pays for the things that support everyone to live good lives!

But right now our collective pool is being run dry and ordinary people are paying the price. Hardworking people are struggling to provide the basics for their families, our schools, hospitals and infrastructure are straining under the weight of underfunding, inequality is growing and working people are being locked out of owning their own home, and our economy is stagnating.

That’s because our tax system is unbalanced: it relies on working people to carry more of the load; while big corporates and the super rich are getting richer from our collective resources without paying their fair share. Our system is designed to tax work more than wealth. If we shared the load and our wealth we could replenish our collective pool and tackle the inequality that is holding us back.

We need better taxes to build better lives

Funding what matters

Better taxes mean more revenue to rebuild and resource our hospitals, schools, housing, infrastructure, and climate resilience.

Fairness

Better taxes requires those who can most afford it - big corporates and the super rich - to contribute the most, so everyone pays their fair share to replenish our collective pool and to tackle increasing inequality.

Flourishing economy

Better taxes shift our resources away from property speculation and harmful industries, into productive businesses and public services, providing jobs and lifting living standards for everyone.

Together we can redesign our tax system

We can make sensible changes to close the gaps that let big corporations off the hook and make sure those who can afford to contribute more are contributing their fair share. At the same time, we can ease the load on everyday people and fund the things our communities rely on like healthcare, education and climate action. Tax can be complex, but the impacts are real and the choices we make shape the kind of country we live in.
